Yeah but no one else refers to themselves as Americans. Canada is in North America but they are simply called Canadians. Mexico is in North America and they are called Mexicans. The list goes on and on in South America too. We are the only country that refers to ourselves as Americans. There is no competition at all for use of that word between other countries.
And yet again allow me to remind you that it is the fundamental belief of all Americans (whether or not they want to admit it) that we (as in the USA) are the center of the universe and all should bow down to us.
