I thought Gaga was a Britney (lip syncs, relies on autotune), but then I watched her 2009 VMAs performance. I remember watching that video almost everyday back in the days. I WAS COMPLETELY SLAYED.

I'm also surprised how Beyonce managed to make it SOOOOOO big as a solo artist. I can't believe someone from Destiny's Child actually managed to do that. She surpassed Christina & Jlo for God's sake!! I thought for sure the three biggest superstars from my generation would have been Britney, Christina, & Jlo but it seems to have become Britney, Beyonce, & P!nk instead.

I was a self-proclaimed gaga over Lady Gaga before. I mean who did not bop to JD and PF though? I loved her even more when she released flawless videos from Paparazzi to Telephone. But Alejandro happened. I was still a fan but I can't hadle the backlash and I was afraid with her image. I bop with her music during BTW era but lost my interest because of her antics. JD and PF image >>> Alejandro + BTW looks combined. Plus, LM attitude (who didn't?)

I first heared Katy with TOY. I instantly fell inlove with that song. Searched her previous singles but never took her music seriously. When she released CG, I hated her because she blocked Telephone's chance to go #1 in our local radio station's weekly countdown. But then again, Katy released her iconic hit single that is Teenage Dream, I fell in love with her music once again. And the rest was ourstory.

That I think change my perception towards Gaga and Katy over time based on their image and music. I honestly can't believe Katy could snatch the spotlight away from Gaga tho. She's truly a dark horse.

Yes I thought Gaga was over but then she went on to win a Grammy, have one of the best selling albums of its genre and started receiving critical acclaim from all of her performances. Then and only then did I realize that she is the true queen of music

I always saw something huge in P!nk (sorta like a female MJ - an artist who is more than just a singer - a president for human rights, against racism and accepting every sexual orientation). That kind of spirited freedom makes her one of the biggest artists of her generation with Britney & Beyoncé. Her fanbase is just so strong (outside of ATRL) - the tours and hits have always proved it.

Britney seemed always like a huge force. I'd never expect her to flop. Everything she does is in the headlines. She could break her little finger and it would be still a topic. The interest in her is still huge and the world hasn't got rid of her yet.

I used to be sceptical when Beyoncé was still in DC and had only planned to go solo. When 'Crazy in Love' aired I totally thought this girl wouldn't fade away too soon. Her wealthy celebrity-status combined with her discography and the tours prove that she is more than just a usual singer.

With Christina's early success I came to the thought she would be the new Madonna (if you will) - 'Stripped' had that sort of influence, 'Back to Basics' also. Well, time has changed and things do not look rosy for her. I remember that I saw JT having an interview, in which he said Christina would have a decade spanning career. I guess he was wrong.

I never really came to recognize Rihanna before her huge success with 'Umbrella'. But she really changed the game. She reinvented her style and musical direction every time and I would never expect that. Little did I know that after 'Good Girl Gone Bad' she would have even more successful eras with hit singles. If anyone told me back then she would become a huge force I would have told them off as completely stupid.

Yes, I'm among the people who thought Gaga wouldn't make it far. For now it's either 'Make it or Break it' for Gaga. The 'Cheek to Cheek' era with Tony is a little cry for help and it's a safe attempt to get back into big business. If she records some actual hits and her new role on AHS is also adding to her success I don't see why she can't survive 2 or 3 more years. Seems like she's the one who always has to prove something.

Britney came to mind when I first saw Katy in 'I kissed a girl' - she completely gave me the image of the new emerging pop princess. I had no bad feeling about her surpassing most of her peers. I still don't have that now.

Nobody would've thought in Taylor's early stages of her career that she would become the ordinary pop princess she is today. I always thought she was the Shania Twain of her generation - country pop with not much exposure.

Outside of the US Miley wasn't relatively know except for her Hannah Montana persona. Until 'Bangerz' came out she sort of started to make an impact. I honestly still don't see her as a big competitor - I think she tries too hard.

Ariana gives me cute little bambi eyes and sweet personality in every picture or video I see of her but she also fails to excite me so I really start to think she won't survive a whole decade and vanish with the Ashantis and Myas of the previous decade.

Taylor was non-existent to me until 2012. I always thought she had cute bops and all but I didn't realize people were actively checking for her until I came across hordes of people with the "WANEGBT" cover as their icons on Twitter. Red was my first Taylor album when I bought it during Amazon MP3's sale, and now it's one of my favorite albums ever.

I was hoping Miley would be gone from the public conscious forever post-Can't Be Tamed. I found it embarrassing how hard she tried to shed her "good girl" Disney image, that I thought none of my peers would ever take her seriously. When "We Can't Stop" dropped the summer before my junior year, the video was super tryhard and figured she would flop and never be heard from again. Then the next day in my driver's ed class the girl seated next to me was humming the melody.

I knew of Ariana from Twitter and thought her little 90s throwback shtick was cute. She had an online following, but no one ever spoke of her in my offline life. I remember being in the car, on my way to record a project at a friend's house when either the radio or one of my gal pals blasted "Problem" and started singing the lyrics. I thought "Wow you guys actually know who this is?" and joined them.

Demi's song was just released. U got to be kidding.
