And mind you, this is only 5% of the entire world using Streaming services. Who's to say 10%, 20%, or 30% of the world won't be using Streaming services in the future? Streaming is even about to happen in Asia.
4M equivalent in albums is something huge for an artist like Ariana. Now imagine Taylor -- 1989 has been HUGE. #1 hits back to back, everyone loves Taylor. So put it into perspective, if 1989 was on Spotify it'd be doing even better than Ariana.
Would you rather do 500K first week and 1.5M total in the digital era? Or 10K first week, and 3M total equivalent in the Streaming era? First week sales don't mean **** at the end of the day. 2x more is 2x more. People will choose 3M albums over 1.5M.
On-Demand Streaming increased 54.5% in 2014 in US, and is growing even more rapid -- 90.6% increase the first quarter 2015 in US.
What's currently a hit album doing 1.2B streams equivalent to 800K, will next year be 2.4B streams equivalent to 1.6M, and the year after 3.6B streams equivalent to 3.2M.
I can see why you're thinking artists won't be doing as much on Streaming, but it's because it's in it's early stage -- 1% of the world doesn't even use Spotify rn. Put the grow together, and add up some albums and you'll see the top albums in a few years on Streaming will be moving more albums than the top albums in digital era.
