Katy is definitely an Icon and has cemented herself in Pop Culture. The more people want to underestimate her, the bigger she gets. Sure ALBUM SALES are one of the main factors in defining HUGE but Katy owns every area you can think of. Album, Singles, Streaming, Tour >>>

Let's not forget that she has plenty of iconic looks (Cupcake Bra, Candy Cane, Queen Of The Jungle, Cleopatra) ect). and defining music videos.

I mean this woman is POP at it's FINEST. She might not be controversial but that's what amazing of it all, she sells on her name alone and doesn't need to rely on image or scandal to keep her name out there.

But wasn't she the only big pop girl touring during in the timespan that Forbes counts? If we had known it would only be about earnings then Katy being pop #1 would have been very easy to predict. Just as easy as Taylor being #1 next year.
