Hello, Guero & wesleywalrus to the 8th Redemption Island Duel. This is the final duel before the Merge so one of you will officially join the Top 12 as soon as this duel is over. The first Merge round will be posted in just a bit so whichever one of you wins this duel will have less time than the others to compile an entry but it's not a hard round so that shouldn't be a problem.

This final duel you will each be sending in a song about losing a loved one whether it's a boyfriend, mom, sister, grandfather, etc. There should be the impression they are dead instead of just too far away to be be with so try to choose a song that makes a clear inference that the loved one has passed away. It's not hard to find a song that accomplishes this lyrically so the deciding factor in who stays and who goes will probably be whichever song is more heart-wrenching than the other. Get into our feelings!

What To Do:

As always. PM the artist and title of the song you are submitting. No explanation included.

Take Into Consideration:

• The panel will judge the audio/lyrics of the track you submit. Music videos will not increase or decrease your score as some music video plots differ from a song's true meaning.
• The theme is what is important here. You will not receive a low score because you sent in a song one of the judges does not like. Taste will most likely only be the determinate in whether you receive for example a 8.5 or 9.
• The song you choose should display the meaning upfront. An interview with your artist clarifying the meaning of the song will not be taken into consideration.

Judging Scale (May Vary By Judge):

9/10 - Great entry. Track displays the theme given head on.
8 - Good entry. Displays theme well but not as well as others.
7 - Okay entry. Fits decently but is missing something overall.
6 - Somewhat tackles the theme but falls flat.
5 - Track mentions theme but is otherwise off-base.
3/4 - Song does not hit the theme given.
1/2 - Song has to do with a completely different subject than the theme.

The example for this duel is "Slipped Away" by Avril Lavigne off her sophomore studio album 'Under My Skin'. Lyrically, the song has Avril mourning the loss of her grandfather in which she clearly distinguishes he has passed and describes how the loss has affected her. It all leads up to a bridge that is sort of a waterworks show depending on the mood you're in. It's a vulnerable emotional track from a girl that built a career on being a rebel which makes it all the better to hear.



Get your entries in as soon as possible but also make sure you're content with them as I literally have to send them off and get them judged within 24 hours so the winner still has time to compete in Round 11.

Hello castaways! It is finally the time two tribes become one. You all have fought your way halfway through this competition but the game is far from over.

I decided to keep Tribe Strujala as the post-merge tribe as their banner matches best with the logo of the season.

From now on, you are all one tribe and will have to ensure your safety at every single Tribal Council. Let's see what you all will be doing for the first post-merge round of the season...

The theme for Round 11 is...

Musical Chairs

This round is one of my personal favorites. It's both easy for the players but also fun to announce results of. In this round, you will each pick an artist. It can literally be any known artist though I recommend someone with at least two bodies of work as you'll have much more options to choose from. It does not have to be a former or current major pop girl. A girl like Jessie J or along that caliber works just fine. It actually doesn't even have to be a girl but you'll soon see why choosing a male puts you at a disadvantage.

This round has 12 mini rounds to it. They range from "Best Red Carpet Look" to "Worst Single Choice". Each round, you'll submit a picture or video and the judges will rank you from favorite to least favorite. The person with the lowest average rank will be eliminated from the round. This process continues until only one remains. This round is not cumulative. The goal is to simply not come in last any round.

Below will be the twelve mini rounds that make up the entire round.

The Rounds:

R1: Best Single Cover

Attach a picture of your chosen artist's best single cover. It needs to be an official cover. I will resize it to fit my tables.

R2: Best Red Carpet Look

Attach a picture of your artist's best red carpet look. No, the carpet does not have to be red. Also include the name of the event your artist was attending in the picture.

R3: Worst Single Choice

Send a youtube video of your artist's worst single choice. The song needs to have gotten a release in major markets so an Australian only single is not eligible.

R4: Worst Music Video

Send a youtube video of your artist's worst music video. It needs to be an official video but the song does not have to have necessarily been a single.

R5: Worst Red Carpet Look

Attach a picture of your artist's worst red carpet look. Once again, list the event they were attending in the picture.

R6: Best Album Track

Send a youtube video of your artist's best album track. Your song should be great quality first and foremost. If it has commercial capability, cool but that's not the goal here.

R7: Worst Song Recorded

Most of everyone has that tragic track you wish never existed. Send a youtube video of that track.

R8: Best Collaboration

Send a youtube video of your artist's best collaboration whether it's them being featured or them featuring another artist.

R9: Best Live Performance

Send a youtube video of your artist's best live performance.

R10: Best Fanmade Artwork

Attach a picture of the best fanmade artwork of your artist. If you're using coverlandia, give me the link to the page you found the picture on because for whatever reason, the covers from there do not copy over.

R11: Best Single Chorus

You know that undeniably catchy chorus even non-stans have to admit is great? Send a youtube video of the song. Quote the lyrics to the chorus.

R12: Best Music Video

Send a youtube video of your artist's best music video.

The Redemption Island winner will also compete in this round. You two may both think of an artist you want to work with but cannot sign up until tomorrow.

The deadline for this round is July 2nd at 6:00 PM PST Timezone. That's a little over 48 hours to complete the round. It's rather simple to complete this round but if you guys need more time when the deadline nears, it can be given.

Also, when sending your entry, don't format it all cute. I have to post each round separately as I reveal results live. Just indicate which round is which and send away.

Results for Rounds 1-6 will be revealed July 3rd while Rounds 7-12 will be revealed the following day on July 4th. If there's an extension, the time will change obviously.
