After Sarah Palin's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week she has announced she will be stepping down in a few weeks. In a press conference called minutes ago, Alaska's Governor Sarah Palin has announced she will not run for re-election and is stepping down as governor.
Something smells funny about her resignation at the end of the month - she had already announced that she would not be running for re-election for Governor in 2010, which is a dead giveaway she was positioning herself for 2012. But why resign only 2.5 years INTO your FIRST term with a year and a half 'til you're done? I mean, having a complete term would help her in looking "leader"-like but this seems extremely stupid and I'm not sure who she's placating to...
If she is elected President I will kill myself. See what you are doing Palin? If you are elected many people will kill themselves! Do you really want to be responsible for killing MILLIONS of people?!?!?
It's not that she's a bad person, because she's clearly not. But she just would not effectively run this country. And I hate the GOP attacking everyone as "sexist" who is against Palin. It's not the liberals' fault if two of the most visible members of the GOP, Palin and Coulter, are obnoxious beyond belief.
No one quits 2 ½ years into their first term as an elected official because they “don’t want to waste tax payer money”. There’s no rule that says she can’t spend her last year and a half doing her job.
I can only assume her excuse is meant to give supporters a reason to believe she’s not abandoning them. If this were good news as Sarah Palin wants you to believe, she wouldn’t have announced it on a day when it will be buried by the holiday weekend. I know a lot of people are saying this is a 2012 strategy, but if so, it would be a highly irresponsible one.
My guess is, there's a scandal about to surface or she no longer wants anything to do with politics (as some reports have said).
No person has one the presidency without being a current Senator, Governor, Vice President or being a war vet.
This is very foolish of her and is a big blow to the GOP. They will not be able to organize without a figurehead to guide the party and now the GOP has lost 2 of their potential leaders.
Considering I am a Libertarian and generally we vote for Republicans () Sarah Palin was a complete nightmare for us. If she runs on the 2012 ticket, she will further alienate the moderate Republicans/Libertarians like me. What a shame.
