That said, from a legal standpoint, a big reason why marriage exists is for things like property/financial rights. Polygamy would make this problem unnecessarily more complex and lead to lots of different conflicts with said rights when the one with two wives/husbands dies. For this reason, I don't support it. If you want to have a three person relationship, feel free. You can even marry one. You just can't marry both so we don't have to restructure the entire system with ownership and how stuff passes on

No, that's not going to fly, because laws can be changed. If the definition of marriage can be expanded to same sex couples, then the laws, the tax code, definitions etc. can be changed to accommodate group marriages. I think it's only a matter of time.
