"western" has everything to do with what i mentioned. all those things you listed are part of the SOCIAL requirement, but even with the same language and religion, latin america is not socially (or politically) similar to western european countries. even eastern european countries like russia share the same religion and similar traditions as western europe, but even they don't fit the bill for a western country. that's why when russia is portrayed in the media, the west is portrayed as a separate entity because it's not part of the west. and FYI, latin america doesn't only have european influences. many parts of latin america heavily retain native cultures (like bolivia) and strong black african cultural influences (panama).
you are mistaken. brazil is not wealthy and not anywhere close to canada's economic power. brazil's closest economic equivalent in india. and third world is definitely an accurate term for both

You never learned about the Meiji Restoration or Japan's westernization? How Japan westernized during the industrial revolution in school? It's one of the most important historical events and is the reason why Japan is where it's at today. Do you think the reason Japan was the only country to not be colonized was luck?
They adopted European laws, customs and even military advancements. They along with Russia are the only countries to successfully westernize.
Look up westernize.

Russia today is not considered Western because of the Soviet Union.
Which brings me to another thing. First, second and third world are outdated Cold War terms used to define what countries aligned with the United States and the Soviet.
Third world countries are neutral. For example Switzerland was a third world country because it was a neutral party in the Cold War.
Honestly look it up and educate yourself a bit on history.
The US has strong influences from black and Native American culture. I guess it's not a Western country.
Your comment seems to be strongly influenced by American xenophobia where anything below the border and past Germany is a "non-entity". You don't have to be American to be influenced by its propaganda.
