It's been getting decent reviews from critics and average reviews by horror fans who like the Scream franchise. Wes Craven is also working behind it (not doing a whole lot but he is involved) so I have faith it will be good.
I'm sad by this but I'm also not sad. The Weinsteins really screwed up Scream 4 with that hospital ending, killing the chance of a successful Scream 5.
Actually the hospital ending was a smart move on their part. If you look at this way the original would have ended us not getting a sequel to finish the storyline and it would have been a bigger mess. At least Scream 4 got closure altho being cliche and we found out what happened on the extended ending with Sidney being happy.
They should have just made Scream 4 a different group of people tbh. They should just have everything set in the same universe. New group of people, new scream queen, get the teens actually involved. Then for Scream 5, bring in the trio to tie it in. Kill off everyone but Sidney & our new scream queen.
The trio should have been a cameo in 4 tbh. The film became about them and not introducing the final generation, and that's where the move failed at creating a new franchise.
