What is the future of marriage equality in Asia?
Since not a single country in the Asia allows same sex marriage, what do you think would be the future of the cause in the continent? Which country would allow it first? And would it be harder for it to come through in Asia? Do you think it will happen in the next five to ten years?

Well, in China they don't oppose it, and they say that same-sex marriage is ahead of its time over there currently, but in the future it's no doubt it'll be legalized.
The countries that most likely won't legalize it are the mostly or partly Muslim ones: Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Turkestan republics, Afghanistan...

I don't think Asia will allow gay marriage for another few decades.

Pretty much this.
And I heard that in Vietnam, the government allows the gay/lesbian couples to get married. But they haven't officially legalize the marriage yet. It means that they can celebrate the wedding ceremony but there is no law to guarantee the relationship.
And in Taiwan, there has been a major gay pride ceremony in large scale through out Taipei and Caohsiung.
Not to mention Pink Dot in Singapore.
So it's likely, China - Taiwan - Vietnam - Singapore and Japan. These five countries will go first.

Thailand and SK will likely be the first countries to legalise it, hopefully very soon, too.

Care to explain? I thought they were rather open-minded.

I will only say there are MANY gays here, but all of them end up either abroad or most likely married and with children. Coming out in Korea means not only losing your family forever, but also your job, friends, respect from coworkers/classmates, not to mention any possibility to succeed in the future. Same goes for anyone who supports gays.
This is the worst place for the gays by far among the developed countries.

Most Asian parents I know (here in America) don't even like their kids date out of their race. So they have a while to go.

In many aspects they are.
In equality, no
But in Japan it might happen soon tho, they are much more open minded than in Korea.

Korea is a little too conservative at the moment
Japan's current government said its not a priority currently
Taiwan is probably one of the closest to getting it
Thailand needs to sort out some governmental issues before tackling social issues
I read somewhere that 70% of the Philippines population approves of gay marriage, they just havent put it into law yet
Dont know about the rest of East/South East Asia and i dont care about non east/southeast asia. Though israel may get gay marriage soon
