just proves that the main cause for prejudice (of any kind) is simply ignorance. Which is why education on these issues is so important, and speaking more about minorities and their struggles and making people aware of it, can greatly help decrease that prejudice.

I found that LGBT acceptance in University compared to high school is overwhelmingly massive. In high school (my experience) there was always this lowkey notion that LGBT people are 'different' in a bad way. Around the people I did come out to in HS, I still felt awkward because they were the same people that used the word "******" and used constant gay slurs. I tried to get my friends to stop using the word "******" but they just didn't get it, eventually I gave up. I remember one lunch-time my best friend, who was the first person I had ever told, said she didn't like lesbians. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to look 'different'.
In university I've never felt an ounce of discrimination based on my sexuality. It's really accepting which is amazing. I guess the difference in acceptance between HS/University is resultant of people maturing and learning from their mistakes in the past.

Same here. Like in middle school gay or lesbian was used as an insult or a joke, in high school some people were accepting while the other half still were uncomfortable with it, and post-HS graduation it's difficult to find people my own age who are vehemently against it, even if they are they don't really voice their opinion on it and just keep it to themselves so nobody even knows.
