women care about representation in finance and business because they are being excluded from the higher paying jobs even though the have the same qualifications as men. the glass ceiling? obviously since the sewer industry is so low paying with terrible work conditions people in general are not going to scramble at the chance to be a sewer worker, not just women.
the fact that women make up half of the population yet nowhere near half in parliament should tell you enough about sexism in society. why should men who know nothing about the female experience be making legislation that impact women?

I don't though, I just look at things through a pragmatic lens. My favourite authors are women, my favourite musicians are women and my favourite people are women. Tops job in finance and business require heavy hours and real dedication, most women refuse because of their own inverted sexism or lack of ambition. And so what if the working conditions of the sewer industry is bad? A job is a job, like I said you can't just have select things in life, you have to take the good with the bad.
There are plenty of female MPs now, so take a seat.

The fact that you think just because something is a figure of speech means that it can't be insulting is idiotic enough. Of course females will rally for more female MPs because female MPs bring the female perspective to government. It's all well and good to have equal representation in the sewer industry, but females in the sewer industry will not have an active say in the shaping of government laws.
I refuse to argue with someone so clearly willing to undermine women and a movement meant to seek the equal benefits of all. I hope one day you will be open enough to educate yourself more about what exactly feminism means, and the benefits an equal society brings for all.
And if you are a LGBT community member, shame on you. Feminism affects you too - most anti-LGBT sentiments are based in the perception of females as weaker counterparts to men. I'd be happy to explain this to you if you feel like you WANT to be educated. Until then, I don't think there's anything more to be said. It's a shame there's already people in here encouraging this kind of thinking and disheartening to see so many members of a forum with such a high LGBT quotient attempting to devalue feminism.
And call yourself a philogynist all you want. You have little if ANY value for women.

I believe in freedom of speech, it's attitudes like yours that is going to one day turn our society into a state controlled nation ala the USSR. Toughen up your skin, get a sense of humor and stop trying to censor everything you and your PC brigade

The sewer industry is vital in keeping a clean ecosystem as well, so I don't see how that's any less significant, if our sewers were dirty and polluted global warming would only increase and ultimately our planet would be destroyed. Why shouldn't women have a say in how we take care of our planet? And how is it less significant just because one involves mass media attention and the other doesn't?

Both jobs are vital in different ways
I am well educated, I have an offer to study at Oxford uni and I worship feminist authors such as Angela Carter and contemporary feminists like Stella Creasy. I am well educated on feminism! Thanks for your concern though, it's sweet of you.
Ok boo hoo, cry me a river unless you can actually prove me wrong. I support women I just don't think the argument of feminism is the way forward.
