A person at HexWar stated that the company is "in no way sympathetic to the use of the flag in an offensive way," and includes it simply because it's historically accurate. To return to the App Store, HexWar will be resubmitting its American Civil War titles using an 1861 version of the Confederate flag, which is significantly different from the "Southern Cross" battle flag usually associated with the Confederacy.
Okay, this is going a little far As long as the flag isn't being glorified it's fine in games, movies, and TV shows. I mean, we don't remove Nazi flags from performances of The Sound of Music, or from the movie.
They are coming at this the wrong way - trying to erase history is never a good thing to do. It's different from saying that a treasonous flag will no longer be held in a states capital. But, honestly, I don't really care enough about the Confederates of over 100 years ago to really care about this either.

The confederate flag definitely holds a lot of pain and hatred for many of our older generation, that is still alive today. You can't truly erase history as we're In a completely different age now, but I honestly don't see what they're doing as wrong either. I mean sure, this won't erase racism, nor will it improve much, but if these companies don't allow the usage or selling of the confederate flags does that truly hurt anyone either? You may not care about it, but its not like 100 years ago is a long time when the flag has still been used to promote racial hatred not even 40 years ago.

In a game that places you in a historical setting where battles were fought using the confederate flag then there is no reason to stop its usage. What are we going to remove it from text books because someones feelings are hurt?
Removing it from government buildings makes sense.

I'm just saying that removing them from war games is silly.. it'd be like removing the Nazi flag and pretending that WWII never happened lol. There's obviously enough context to know who was in the right.
Now other apps and such that glorify the flag, that, I can understand.

How so?
I can't imagine a game allowing its player to be a part of the SS troops with the Nazi flag being allowed either.
Why should we have games were people get to pretend to be soldiers fighting to preserve White Supremacy and Slavery? Ban them all, I say.

And the Nazi flag is not in any (non racist) game or hanging in front of any state building in Germany. It's definitely been banned.
