Young people have been liberal for decades. This never pans out because people become more conservative as they age, plus the Republican party in general has been slowly drifting to the left on the big social issues. For example, the number of GOP politicians who actively oppose all gay marriage is only a fraction of what it was 10 years ago.
I hope Hillary wins in 2016, but I would not be at all surprised if a Republican beat her.
