Will we ever have an openly atheist president(US)? How do you think it will effect the country if we do?
You can answer if you think your country would ever elect an atheist as your leader as well, if you're not from the US.

I feel like the US and the rest of the world is way too religious to ever have an atheist president. Maybe in a couple decades when religion dies down a bit

Nope. If a Jewish or Muslim president can't be the president of the US an atheist won't happen. It was hard for a Catholic to even be president and Kennedy won for his charisma. He was really lucky.

When religion stops being a magical gauge for morality, it'll be more likely. Maybe five more presidents or so, when religion wanes a bit.

It should be mandatory. Religion has no place in parliament, imo.

I don't see why not. We aren't supposed to be a nation built on religious freedom so there shouldn't be a problem.

Religion and law should be completely separated.

There is no country in the world where atheists are a majority except for China (though atheism is forced down the people's throat) but it's possible for a country to have an atheist leader as long as the country is not too influenced by right-wing religious fundamentalism. Even Greece which is 95% Christian currently has an atheist Prime Minister.
