Yeah, I played with Lady Gaga, maybe 10 years ago... But she was called Stefani Germanotta, she wasn't Lady Gaga yet.
We were both really, you know, young and I didn't we'd... I don't think either of us had any idea what we were doing until I got on stage and watched her. She had like a full leotard on, she was playing the grand piano standing up and her... this song, I don't remember what it was called now but it was incredible. And I remember being like "I have to follow that?" (...).
And then we became friends and we did a couple of shows together (...) she was just amazing, you could tell she was on fire, she had something going on. (...)
She wrote me on Myspace like "Hey Rachel, do you want to listen to my new music? I'm gonna call myself Lady Gaga, here are my early demos, what do you think?"
& I listened to it and I was like "Oh, I don't know, I just, I personally love the singer-songwriter stuff you were doing Stefani". I think I did not have the greatest tastes in music back then, considering it was like the complete wrong move for her to listen to what I said.
She was honest about her time with Stefani, and good for her. Anybody else woulda been like, "oh yeah I supported her gaga stuff since day one!"
And another thing, Gaga's early demos may not be your thing but some of her "Stefani" stuff (especially the ragtime/jazz work) is good. And if actual real musicians/artists can appreciate/praise her for that stuff, it just goes to show you there's more to gaga and her pop ****. It's so sad how a lot of monsters pay her early work dust just because it isn't top 40 basic pop trash.
