Jon Stewart made the point yesterday that white people only listen to black people when their message is coming from another white person other wise known as a "Helper Whitey". What do you think? Is it true that white people only listen to black people on race and other issues when their message is coming from a white person? Post your thoughts on why or why not.

Probably. All of my black friends have a white friend they use to talk to me. Mostly because I wouldn't be caught dead talking to a black person.

Yeah I guess. People think if a white person talks about racism its so profound when they're only repeating what black people have been saying for years. Like that Jon Stewart clip where he was talking about the SC shootings went viral when there are thousands of posts on tumblr where black people say the exact same thing
They trust another white person since they think it isn't black people overreacting its so dumb

It's just one of those issues where an outsides speaks of other group's problems making them somewhat "unbiased" and more believable. This can apply to anything, not just race.

Which clown am I going to listen to Al Sharpton or Jon Stewart at least I know Jon is more honest. Obama instantly politicized it. The only black person I saw being calm and rational about it was Ben Carson. Black people don't need a "helper whitey" they just need someone who isn't going to try to score points or lay blame and try to unite and not divide. I would listen to that person all day.

He's not. However, he makes a good point that that in and of itself could be seen as "we need to address the issue".

Oh please! Obama is a politician and he's supposed to politicize it because it's a political issue. Obama is doing his job. If Obama didn't say anything you'd be complaining that Obama didn't say anything. You aren't fooling anyone.

If you can't handle black people who aren't conservative telling you about racism them you need to grow a pair because they have to actually deal with the racism which is far more harmful than someone telling you that your racism harms them.

Black people dont take black people seriously until a white person says it so... I guess so.

Then you take into account the fact that being pro black is a more of a hustle for profit fronting as a movement doesnt make things much better.

And racist whites have already divided society so much but black people dividing is the problem? Just bury your head in the sand like every other white person as more and more terrorist acts are committed because nothing changes.

We already know who is to blame. We already know the history. We don't need people like Sharpton race baiting (laying blame) and inflaming every situation he can so they can profit. We need calm voices like we have seen over the past few days in SC where something HAS changed and that change has swept beyond SC. That is how we move forward.
