Discussion: why is meth so popular in the gay party scene?

Oh god, I always thought it was just a small portion of kids doing those sort of stuff. Surely the majority of gay community can't be hooked on drugs. What even.

They're not hooked on them. People who don't use drugs tend to think you're either a drug addict or you're 100% sober and have never touched drugs in your life.
Something like 90-95% of drug use is recreational. Drugs are everywhere on weekends, but people don't go clubbing every weekend, and they call it quits at some point on Sunday morning.

Preach. Which is why I tend to avoid the conversation completely as much as possible.

I don't call it quits on Sunday morning. I keep going until I run out of whatever it is I'm on. Which is why I'm sober. The first step of recognising you're an addict is admitting that you have a problem. But I can recognise that the majority of people don't suffer from addiction, so I don't judge recreational users. I'm just jealous of them.

Lets get into trouble together.
Jk tho, I'm the same way, money being my main inhibitor. I just cant justify spending money on drugs I'll blow (literally) through in a couple of days, which is why I only do things on special occasions.
Except consertas. I will blow money on consertas.

This x1000.
I'm pretty heavy into going to gay clubs, but out of all my "club friends", one-night stands that resulted from club encounters, and general nightlife networking I have never even heard a whisper of anyone using or seeking meth.
This definitely sounds like a middle america thing, or an underground gay-sex party scene thing. In California (SF, LA) & Miami, coke is still king (molly too), and that holds true for both gay and straight clubs. I doubt NYC differs on that.
Therefore, it can't be too popular in the gay scene if the major gay party cities are paying it dust. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but that it's clearly an underground sex-scene type thing, which houses a small demographic compared to more mainstream less-seedy gay bars and clubs that pull in the majority of the "gay party scene".

Ugh my English is so broken lately, so am I maybe that's the cause. I didn't really mean hooked in that way. I get it now with recreational use of drugs. I have some friends with that type of relationship to substances. What I want to believe is that majority of us would rather stay sober than be on something.
Maybe I am just too skeptical about substance usage thanks to my fragile mental health.

Once you find one, the rest will trickle out. And it's definitely not something you can actually tell, plenty of my club gay friends are doing it and you'd never know because they're not actively talking about it and still have colgate smiles.
But you're completely in the dark if you honestly think there's no meth going on around the clubs of big cities. Molly is still huge and it's very easy to do some cut with meth.

Yeah, rack's the only thing where it's like "****, this is so expensive" though. I'll binge until I run out of drugs/alcohol, but it's hard to run out of alcohol, especially when there are bottle shops down the road from my house.
This has literally been me on a handful of occasions:
My friends hate being around me when I'm drunk. I always drink to the point of blacking out. I've never been able to say "I feel good. Let me stop here." I'll literally go to the bar and order 4 double bourbon and cokes (as if I'm buying rounds) and will skull them all right then and there, and the bartender will be like "what the ****..."

You sound like my kind of guy. I'm a blackout queen and the party doesn't stop until everythings out or I have to clock into work.

I'm sure there's meth going around, I'm just saying it's not a "thing" like the OP suggested. It's most certainly not popular in the true sense of the word. It probably just seems that way because its so heavily used in the gay-sex scene subcultures, which is a tiny demographic of gay scene partying.
......
Ironically though, this thread has me wanting to search for some.
The sex sounds sooo amazing, but I don't like the fact that a major side-effect is bad judgement, which leads to unsafe sex. Alcohol does that to me already, so I'd be super screwed. I don't need anymore 20 minute prayer sessions while waiting for the results of a test. No maam.

Well i mean, it obviously isn't vodka and redbull but the fact that meth use in the community is loud enough to be an issue makes it "popular" enough ya know?
There's better sex drugs without the gnarly comedown. Meth highs do not make up for the ultra-anxiety aftermath, I dont understand how people enjoy it enough to do regularly.

Meth and speed are a little too much for me tbh, speed ****ed me up for 2 days, I couldn't sleep at all and those were workdays
I've tried 4fmp also, but that only works when you take mdma cause else it will just do whatever it wants and I feel so out of control, but mdma is cool, I only take it on festivals/some night out tho
And coke is really not all that, usually I only do it when I'm drunk and it makes me feel less drunk
But I will never touch heroine or anything you need to inject, hell no
And most people in my environment are like this, they only take drugs in the weekends (some go on for 48 hours but like, no) but aren't hooked, tho most people take coke a lot more than I do but oh well

They all are but I also think coke is the biggest problem. Also pretty much everyone smokes weed.
I've been single for a while now because everyone I meet wants to "party" and/or "play bareback". And no I'm not ugly, im a ****ing 10/10

If you have it under control, it's fine. It's not worse than alcohol and we drink that like water here. But if you can't have sex without being high or have to take it daily, then there's a problem.

Who knows, i guess it's just the "in" thing with this community. Personally i would never touch it, its always seemed liked a poor persons drug to me tbh, kind of like heroin.
