Shes one of the masters of pop not just in terms of albums but within different aspects of the entertainment industry. I think she fights ageism in ways not acknowledged by a lot of people. She fights ageism just by continuing to make albums and being confident in herself and her body and going on stage. However, her output musically and aesthetically isn't very good anymore. So its a bittersweet victory. Im not down to grovel at her feet for what shes doing because I don't think her output deserves it, but she is fighting ageism just by continuing her presence.

I was actually thinking about this the other day.

Centuries from now, Madonna will be remembered. People won't shame her for continuing to perform, sing, dance and create well into her 80s-90s. She'll be revered for it. People are shaming her for being "old" and not throwing in the towel, but she's only adding to her legacy.

When she was in her youth, she fought the social construct that women weren't sexual beings with sexual feelings. Now that she's older, she's fighting the social construct that older women aren't sexual beings with sexual feelings.

She's not only a genius - she is, and always will be, the most revolutionary feminist of all time.

Honestly, I don't even know if they will. Beyoncé will, because she's got the talent, drive, talent, touring force, talent, black genes, talent, etc. But I don't know about the rest. Madonna's body is an external reflection of her determination and hard work. Any pop girl who works hard enough to maintain her body and her youth for as long as possible has a shot at longevity.
