I dont think R8 was supposed to be dance pop just because she passed on this particular song. She was working with people like DJ Mustard for goodness sake.

ATRL likes to take anything and run with it, I doubt it was supposed to be EDM/POP Everything so far has had a dark / alternative sound to it.
Lol jumping into the edm bandwagon didn't work for her so she sent the country folky crappy route...hahaha... But then again she does have no say in this, all her producers decide what she's gonna sing
