In the Jurassic Park universe, the term "Velociraptor" is applied to the genus of another dromaeosaurid dinosaur known as Deinonychus. The films, like the novels, followed the unusual taxonomy created by Gregory S. Paul, who believed that Deinonychus, as well as a few other species of dromaeosaurids, could be classified under the genus "Velociraptor". This is why the Velociraptor in the Jurassic Park films are so large.
I don't think it's fair to come for the people in Jurassic Park/world. They're the ones that thought it would be smart to make a super dinosaur, call it Indominus rex, and expected it not to
get loose and eat everyone
the Velociraptor confusion is minor on their list of mistakes.
In the movie they have to fill the gaps of the DNA with modern day animals (ie. Toads) in order for them to fully revive a living dinosaur. Dinos on jP are genetically altered.
i've read that chickens are closely related to raptors
yes velociraptor are just large chickens not those mess in the movies, those never existed other than if the meant the uhtaraptor those had feathers, let's remember that therapod dinosaurs were just giant birds
Even in the movie they said the dinosaurs may not look how they looked like in the past because that was not their goal. They wanted more 'teeth' or something. They made sure to cover that 'plot hole'. Re-watch it.
