Tomb Raider 1-8 were original and innovative

I cant help but come to the conclusion that the reboot series is a watered down Uncharted/Last Of Us


First UNC was obviously inspired by the TR series but then the TR series duplicated everything about the UNC game (its even an XBOX exclusive). The new gameplay for The Rise looks like a copy and paste of TR9/Reboot with only snow.


previously Lara was a bad-ass in short shorts and duel pistols with a witty/sarcastic attitude and wasn't relatable at all


now she's someone from that one Jennifer Lawerence movie. With a poor British accent and long pants.

It's the opposite. Tomb Raider is much older than Uncharted.

then here comes the reboot came which is legit Uncharted with only a female protagonist. The random gunt fights, auto aim, self heal instead of using a medipack, lara's back hunched like nathan's, etc

No. Tomb Raider just took some pointers from Uncharted like Uncharted took pointers from TR.

Uncharted took heavy, heavy influence from Tomb Raider
then Tomb Raider copied them back

The accent isn't poor considering the voice actor is from England.

Tomb Raider has a more authentic, adventurous and serious vibe to it. She's more human than ever and the thing that sticks out between Uncharted and TR is Lara is full of genuine emotion. There are heaps of similarities between the new game and older ones while some elements of the game can be compared to Uncharted. Uncharted and Tomb Raider copied elements from each other.



From the new gameplay video, I don't really get any Uncharted vibes though granted many of the elements in it are inspired by the old Tomb Raider games... the only weapon she uses in this video is a bow and arrow.

Yes. The first TR games were so much different from the 2 newer ones. Unchartes took inspiration from TR, but then TR basically copied Uncharted, so...

Not that I'm complaining though, more Uncharted is always good!

Same happened with Thief & Dishonored - Dishonored took inspiration from Thief but then another Thief game was released that stays away from the previous ones and is heavily inspired by Dishonored.

Okay but at least Uncharted didn't blatantly steal Tomb Raider. The only thing UNC borrowed from TR was an adventurous, treasure hunter which links back to Indiana Jones. I really hope the TR series can go back to its original roots because I'm not feeling this reboot 100%

Tomb Raider always had auto-aim
The gun fights were always random
Self heal is more realistic, med-packs are outdated and would look foolish
She's hunching because it's more realistic, previous Lara's ran straight because of limitations in graphics and no motion capture

Yes,Also Uncharted 4 is more advanced then Tomb Raider is and Uncharted 4 has more hype then Rise of the tomb raider.

who cares about realism? its a video game. Medipacks and sticking to things from the original series would have been so cool.

Anyway, I agree to an extent. Tomb Raider is my favourite game franchise of all time, but the older games have better replay value. Tomb Raider (2013) was just a bit... out of realms for what fans like about Lara. Rich, arrogant Lara > young, naive Lara.

I legit replayed TR13 10 times. Start to finish, so i dont understand how some of you are saying it doesnt have replay value lol

Hunched Lara is kinda realistic, since she's trying to hide from enemies for most/all of the game.

Older games having better replay value =/= TR2013 doesn't have any replay value.
It still has replay value, but I personally think TR1-TRAnniversary (with the exception of TR3) are all better games.

i've been a playing tomb raider games for a long time and i think the reboot was necessary, the games were starting to feel repetitive and predictable
