For those of you who are Canadian I suggest you read up on Bill C-24. As of May 29, it is easier for the government to strip you of your Canadian citizenship.
It also makes it harder to obtain Canadian citizenship as well.
Although there is a lot of miss-information out there about the controversial bill so be sure to read up on it.
This has been going around Facebook this past week:
I don't really see why everyone is so mad about this. Every single person is now a "second class citizen"... unless they are some kind of criminals that cannot get citizenship anywhere else. This makes it easier to strip citizenship to those that get involved in terrorism, which is a good thing.

Not every single person. I'm a first class citizen.

A controversial provision of Bill C-24 recently came into effect, allowing the government to revoke Canadian citizenship from dual citizens who are convicted of terrorism, high treason and several other serious offences.
It's interesting how Bill C-51 and C-24, of which both have passed, take away some fundamental rights of Canadians; but are veiled as terrorism prevention.
Harper's trying to get re-elected through fear mongering.
Not exactly. The new revocation provisions, which came into force on May 29, state that Canadian citizenship can be revoked from a dual citizen if the person:
Obtained citizenship by false representation or fraud
Served as a member of an armed force or organized armed group engaged in an armed conflict with Canada
Was convicted of treason, high treason, spying offences and sentenced to imprisonment for life
The person was convicted of a terrorism offence or an equivalent foreign terrorism conviction and sentenced to five years of imprisonment or more
Well I'd never entertain the idea of becoming a terrorist or anything like that so I don't feel like this law will change anything in my life.

I don't get it. I was born in Canada, doesn't that make me a "first class citizen"? Unless they say that I have another nationality considering the fact my mom was born in Italy but moved here when she was around 5. This **** is complex as ****.
EDIT:

Wait.. so I can get deported to Italy? Get Stephen Harper out of the office or whoever passed this law!!

Do you also have Italian citizenship? If so, then the new changes do apply to you.

I guess yes.
Or if they believe they are using their Canadian citizenship to get a Canadian passport to live in another country. It really hasn't been clear.
