I don't have anything against it if used to stop the increasing numbers of some serious illnesses/conditions such as dementia, cancer, autism and others.

Some of the extreme non-desired traits.

I wonder if they took into consideration, for cases like the blind, scenarios where genetics was not the cause, but rather an accident later in life.

After reading your quote I stick with what I said. For medical reasons yes, not for nonsense such as being homossexual or promiscuous.

I've generally been in favor of eugenics after I read Richard Lynn's book on it. It's a very insightful read though he's much more of an extremist than I am.

Most traits of that nature are impossible to pinpoint to genes as those things are often attributed to many confounding variables. Eugenics would not solve those problems and any source that says so is probably under the impression that eugenics is a Nazi thing.

Ohhh, I might have to give it a read. I'm very on the fence atm so maybe it might help make up my mind.

We do eugenics on cattle and pigs here. The best ones win a prize at the fair!

It's a lot to take in and I'm still pretty on the fence about a lot of aspects of it myself but it's a great science to be educated on.

What could be considered a good trait today may be detrimental hundreds of years from now. Also making everyone of the same genes (well similar genes) will quickly kill off the human race in the event of a catastrophe where the once undesirable traits are needed for survival

This is a common misconception. Eugenics isn't really geared towards reproducing good traits, at least, it's not practical in that manner, nor is it's aim to create a group of identical super humans. In modern implementation it would be used to eliminate undeniably negative hereditary traits such as high risk of heart disease or hemophilia.
