I believe she just wanted to find community and has a very passionate interest for black history and its movement in the present. When people started assuming she was mixed race, she probably just went with it, and got sucked into a lie because of expectations

When you get sucked into a lie about who you are, often the lie gets progressively bigger and becomes larger than yourself. You want to tell the truth but everyone's expectation of you is that false representation. So it's either be perceived as a liar or go on further and continue to make the lie bigger

I can accept that she's receptive to the black community and their struggles, but she was born a white woman. Your skin colour, like your biological sex, is something you're born into and pre-determined. But gender and race are social constructs- so she can 'feel' black, but she was not born black.

Race is deeper and more complicated. It's a broad and complex structure and community, with race also comes culture.

Plus a black person can't turn white. Being trans has to work,both ways.
