Who here is a songwriter?

I was wondering if I could become a songwriter, but I don't know where I start? I'm not the best singer (lol) so I don't know if I would want to record demos. Any tips?

If you're a songwriter where did you start?

In a music business class I took in college, they taught us that songwriters basically send demos of their work being sung by other artists to labels with other things like the composition of the song, lyrics, etc. That's how labels hire you to write songs for their artists.

OT: Yes. I started writing songs when I was 16. Keeping a journal helps me write songs. It's also good to learn an instrument. I took piano lessons for five years, and those lessons really helped me with my songwriting.

Yes. I've been writing songs since I was 11. I just wrote one a few days ago. I usually write a new song once every few weeks. I don't do anything with them though, I suck @ singing
