We all know the song would've peaked at #1 had Taylor released a Bad Blood-hyped video, delivered a spectacular Grammy performance and promoted the song more via social media. Instead, she paid it dust. Even if it's genuinely worse than the rest of her singles, Style was enough to reach number one for at least a week. Therefore I consider Style a Billboard chart-topping hit. Am I right? Discuss.
No. The only prerequisite for being #1 is hitting #1 for that week. It definitely deserved it though. There were so many better possibilities for what they could have done with the music video...
"Style" could've been #1. That's the difference. It's not like it was cheated out of the spot, it's just that Taylor didn't push it enough so the sales weren't where they should have been. It did fine regardless.
