Um, Taylor is a fantastic songwriter....she was signed as a songwriter with a publishing deal when she was 14. She's written entire albums completely by herself, big hit singles by herself, and has the critical acclaim and awards to back it up. She's also got stage presence. So no.

Taylor might win with songwriting but that's about it. Her stage presence is slightly awkward to say the least & she doesn't really do anything except walk around the stage. Her dancers & the visuals do all the work.
I'm not saying this negatively because I did attend two nights of her Red tour & thought it was great but it's just the honest truth. And with vocals, neither of them are powerhouse vocalists so it really doesn't matter.

Still, Taylor's talent with songwriting is huge...she's as talented with that as great vocalists are with singing IMO. She's famous because of her songwriting and artistry.
And she does have stage presence and charisma:
And she can have good vocals when she's in her element.
Also, how were all of the acoustic performances on the Red tour SO GOOD?
^Those are all performances of just her performing songs that she single handedly wrote (except for Tell Me Why, but she was still the main writing force behind the song and could have easily written it by herself).
My point is, Taylor got into the industry because of her great songwriting and artistry....she plays multiple instruments and is capable of singing her songs well enough. She's also got charisma on stage. She's very talented, and the acclaim/awards/etc she's received over her career back that up.
I don't get any talent from Selena with music....there is nothing about her music-wise that stands out and deserves to be recognized. She's not a songwriter, she isn't a good singer, she doesn't have charisma or above average stage presence, etc.
Selena should just ask Taylor to write her a hit song FFS. Taylor probably has 100s of songs she has written that she won't use because they didn't fit the theme of her various albums. Taylor wouldn't give them out to just anyone, but she would for Selena. Or Taylor could just write her a song specifically. She could finish it in an hour or two, and that Interscope guy would already have a hit for Selena in hand. Selena was in Bad Blood MV and Tay writing her a song or two in return could be paying Selena back for that favour.
It seems stupid of Selena not to take advantage of being best friends with an acclaimed songwriter like Taylor, and instead rely on Interscope to hook her up with some randoms. Imagine if Zendaya or Hailee Steinfield get Taylor to write them songs but Selena doesn't.
