1. D'angelo has much more industry respect than Taylor Swift.
2. Taylor has already won the award before. Its extremely rare for an artist to win twice. They would either need to release masterpiece after masterpiece (Stevies case), or garner enough industry respect in between 20 years of releasing music between their first and last AOTY win (U2s case).
3.Pop albums like this dont win AOTY, ever. The only Dance/Pop album to win within the past how many years was Random Access Memories, and it won primarily based on its 70s leanings. Adeles, in comparison, was also a retro leaning record.
