100% Ciara's. And I blamed her for it when the album came out and I clearly said I'm not that much into it and that making a pop album just when urban is starting to come back is not a smart move. But the current state of the era is her label's and her team's fault, not hers. It's not her fault that the album was released prematurely and that it has to linger outside the charts until the second single, which should have been released before the album, starts having effect

Urban is barely coming back tbh. It's flopping worldwide and R&B is still flopping in the US. If Usher was to release Burn or if Ciara was to release Promise in 2015, they would both flop.
Those DJ Mustard type beats are popular but that's it.

Though I won't stand for Jackie shade from most (especially those who were singing its praises and then acted like they hated it all along after the numbers came out), and though I love the album and think it's strong and modern and a great balance of Ci's diverse strengths, I definitely respect Truth Teller's opinion because they are always fair and loyal to Ci and still want Ci to win. Others seem to relish in Ci's label and management issues, career difficulties, and bad sales, and that really isn't cute.

That's actually true. It's more of a hip hop comeback than it is an r&b comeback. But then Natalie LaRose smashed and Ciara can definitely do that sound too, but she didn't.
DLWML, THIF and GML can all be hits though And they better be followed up with an album that's half urban and half pop to not let down the new fans in the way that Jackie let down the fans the self-titled won over

Thanks baby
I disliked it from day one I think but I'm still trying to make it grow on me. Marvin's rate kinda helped, I was mumbling some THIF lyrics earlier

Who? Some days it seems like most of ATRL. But the squad perseveres.

It's just so messy Create a pop album and only release urban singles And then aside from I Bet (bad single choice) and DLWML (urban crossover), the rest of the R&B is so dated and would never get played on radio THIF has a chance because of the collabs and classic sound but it does sound kinda dated. Not gonna lie, I was surprised to not hear a Keep On Lookin/Sophomore type beat on the album (BMF is the closest but it's messy overall).
Then the pop songs range from basic worldwide smash (Give Me Love) to mature and fresh (Only One) but she/the label releases none of them to PROMOTE the pop album! It's like they just want it to flop, ugh.
She definitely needs to find a balance between Ciara and Jackie next time around.

THIF is messy tbh but I still love it and bop whenever it comes on. That said, it is one of my least favorites on the album, and not quite up to par for Ci and Missy's first track years.
Really, Missy should've been on BMF or Lullaby. Hell, even I Bet! Missy would've made I Bet even more a ladies' anthem.
Still, I use THIF, and with time I'm sure you will too.

Oh and I forgot to mention how she wouldn't stop saying how personal it is
YES it's more personal than her other albums but don't act like every song is about to some deep song about your relationship/child/parents
The album title was where it all went wrong tbh. It made people expect something that they didn't get.

They're scared the pop single(s) will flop or backfire I think. They're also trying to figure out if it's worth spending SERIOUS coins to send a Ciara song to pop radio and international markets, probably. I hope her UK promo helps them see her potential
As for balance, self-titled was perfect to me because it put her in her own lane. She got so much acclaim from hip hop and pop outlets for how fresh it was. So, no matter what she does next, it needs to be FRESH. That's what Jackie's missing. I don't really hate any of the tracks (minus All Bad), but I've heard them all before. Still boughT it

Actually, the fact that it flopped might help it grow on me out of pity, like Lotus did Plus I still semi-stan for Basic Mixtape which is her biggest flop

I would hope the success of I Bet in the UK is enough for them to realize the potential she has but then again this is Epic we're dealing with so
Yeah now that I think about it, that album really is her best. EVERY song could've been a single It all sounded so current; it was MADE for radio. It's a shame she got pregnant during the era (even though she planned it which is very suspect ).
Jackie has its highs and lows which just make the album mediocre
The worst songs on Jackie (Fly, All Good) are some of her worst songs ever tbh which is frustating because Fly had so much promise from that snippet (that old nasty beat RUINS it) and All Good should've been more like "I don't have you, but it's all good" NOT another song about Atlanta

When OWA was scrapped, didn't it only take a few months for her best album to date to be created?
