I really enjoy "My Kind" and "Lies," but a lot of the album is forgettable. She just doesn't have a lot of excitement in her voice and many of the hooks are sub-par. Maybe it's an age thing, but I just have never resonated with her.

Dignity is an outstanding pop record and might just be one of the best albums ever tbh.
Her first two albums aren't as great but you should listen to her Best of (2008) for the iconic hit singles

He might like her self-titled if he doesn't mind jamming to a watered down Under My Skin / Breakaway. It's mostly cute pop-rock bops.
