100% same here! I usually need time to accept Hilary's new musical directions.
My first impression of BIBO was very mixed. I didn't know if I liked it or not. Songs I liked from first listen: BIBO, Tattoo, Night Like This and Rebel Hearts.
Now that I gave the album 3-4 listens, it's starting to grow on me. I don't think it sounds like anything Hilary has done before. It does sound like music put out by other artists though, and that's a bit disappointing imo. I love Selena but some songs on BIBO sort of remind me of "Stars Dance" and I kinda dislike that. Usually she's the one ahead of the trends. It's not the case here.
Sparks was the perfect choice for a lead single. There's not any other dance track on the album as catchy, I'm sorry. Her vocals on Sparks sound less autotuned than other songs too.
Really sad All About You wasn't there instead of Picture This. It's such a bad song, what was she thinking? The Mitchy influence is far from being a good thing!
The "like everybody else" in Stay In Love that we heard on that Instagram snippet is heaven to my ears, you guys will love it I'm sure!
Didn't wanna share my thoughts earlier and I'm still not 100% sure of how I feel about the record.
I'm really proud of Hilary though. It's obvious she worked her ass off on this. I hope it all pays off and I hope she doesn't stop making music
