Beyonce has written songs, mostly when she was with Destiny's Child. People just like to ignore this.
I mean, given at the time she's was writing those songs and was unknown and a newcomer, why didn't those co-writers from back then come forward if she's such a magnificent song thief? They possibly couldn't have predicted that Bey was going to become, according to this thread, the most powerful person in entertainment.
I don't think she has "stolen" anything per se, but I also don't think she has actually written a song her entire career.
I'm not saying she doesn't deserve credit for whatever contributions she makes, but she seems to be promoted as a songwriter as well as everything else and I doubt she's done anything but "adapt" whatever comes her way.
She wrote a lot on Dangerously In Love, 90% on "Survivor" album the rest who are credited are the producers, etc. The only thing that has changed is that she works with other writers.
I never said she had pull over awards shows, but yes I do think she has the power to permanently silence up-and-coming songwriters and producers, or even established ones, if she wanted to.
Obama has the power to snatch bitches out their home for shiggles that doesn't mean he does (inb4 conspiracy theorists)
So what I've gathered is that about 100% of the people Bey has worked with over her 17 year long career are afraid to take her court for alleged thievery and are afraid to call her out for it because she's apparently, GOD.

Would you try taking Beyonce on in court if she stole something from you? No because you know you'd lose.
EDIT: Also, yes. Media has portrayed her as nearly deity level.
Because Obama would lose his position, first of all, and second, he wouldn't be that petty.
Just like Beyoncé would face immense backlash if she was discovered to be silencing people
But it was kind of implied that both would do it in secret and that even though they can do many things with their power doesn't mean they do even though you don't like them

So you're saying its okay to give herself a writing credit because the song wasn't as well known, and she changed a word and sang it in her own style? That's BS. I was a fan of that song a long time before Beyonce released her version. The song existed before she recorded it, and it wasn't written for her, Jon wrote and released for himself originally before giving it to Beyonce.
The songs sound identical other than her changing one word and adding some runs. She did not write that song.
I'll give you some more examples using my fave, some demo versions of some songs she recorded and significantly changed them (WAY more than Beyonce changed Smack Into You)
Kelly re-wrote several entire lines and changed the chord progression. Didn't give herself a writing credit because she didn't write the song.
^She completely changed it from an R&B song to a Rock song. The arrangement is completely different and she sings it differently. She didn't give herself a writing credit because she didn't write the song. Interpreting ≠ writing.
Rewrote a few lines, gave it a bigger arrangement.
It is so common that artists completely rework songs that are sent to them when they record their own versions, and they don't give themselves credit. It baffles me that you guys seriously defend this song situation.
Teach them.
Im 100% with you on this one. I have heard the demos and the "finished" products and I have heard previously little known songs/demos drastically re-worked while the singer wasnt claiming a songwriting credit.
Almost every great artist changes and arranges the song given to him/her to suit his/her voice and style or album, yet almost noone claims writing credit for that (a prime example of this includes Ella Fitzgerald who was known for making whole vocal arrangements to every song given to her, no matter if it was cover or original and she enjoyed to change the song including lyrics regularly when recorded and then when performed).
What Beyonce is certainly not right and borderline criminal. The thing is that she is too huge, too wealthy and has a bunch of skilled lawyers who are easily able to make everyone who would try to sue her go bankrupt (just prolonging the court for years is enough to do so).
Sadly, for songwriters its much more profitable and safe to accept Beys ways and make huge money thanks to her superstardom and ability to sell their work than to risk everything they have (including their reputation which her lawyers would try to harm) than to go openly against her. This is mad world and money rule the world.

I'm taking my mama to court if she don't pay me $20 dollars back so yeah...
You're telling me that 100% of the people Bey has worked with and continue to work with have no integrity and continue to allow Bey to steal from them?
