but tbh the school has taught me the basics and coming here's probably helped too.

Mainly music and the internet in general, I guess. Reading definitely improves one's language skills immensely, too, be it foreign articles, interviews or even entire books. To be honest I barely watch English movies and TV shows, personally, but they help me a lot with French, so, yeah, I guess they're useful as well. You have to learn the basic grammar and vocabulary at school or some sort of course, though.

Music has helped me the most, I had a teacher who told me to listen music in English, write down the lyrics and sing the songs so I could know how to write it and how to pronounce it and well... it helps, also read articles and books has helped me a lot. I'm not a master but I think I'm good but I have to admit that Atrl has helped as well because I can see the usage for some words that are not that common and stuff.

Watching films, series and listening to music helps a lot. I used to listen to Britney's music since I was 9.

Also, I used to play a lot of videogames when I was a kid and all of them were in english.

Bilingual country: English is taught all the way up to graduation in Quebec.

That and Quebec is surrounded by +300 million English speakers so the influence of the Anglo/American culture in Quebec is pretty big.

I commend all of you for learning the mess that is English. I wish the world had a prettier lingua franca.
