Laverne Cox wax figure coming to Madame Tussauds

The Madame Tussauds on Fisherman’s Wharf will break new ground this month with the introduction of the first transgender figure in the 200-year history of the London-based wax museum.
Actress Laverne Cox, who plays a transgender black woman on the Netflix series “Orange is the New Black,” will be portrayed in wax starting June 26, in honor of Pride Weekend in San Francisco, museum representatives announced Monday.
“I am so deeply honored to have been asked to be part of the Madame Tussauds legacy,” Cox said Monday in a statement. “I hope that this will be a source of inspiration for everyone who encounters it to believe that their dreams matter and are possible.”
