Im glad nothing like this would ever happen in the UK. There are detailed rules about how the convicted criminals in jails are to be kept separate from those merely accused, the security grade of the prison they are sent to and a long stop of around half a year maximum that someone can be lawfully held in a prison without being tried.

Truly a sad day and a big call for reform in the US.
