There's a possibility for anyone either way, so why not just comply to avoid conflict? If you resist and don't do something as simple as showing an ID, things are clearly going to get worse.

Some people just don't want their name documented in police reports because it's hard to have it removed for one. These people are so childish and have naive view on life, and are thinking "It's just an ID, do it quickly and be done with it". But as an adult and a mother she is thinking, "I don't need my name in the system, I don't need to be identified for them to pull me up at my job, contact my boss, what if this ****s up my insurance" all those potential problems, just for a petty incident that she had no fault in

But the white woman's name wasn't taken, so she doesn't have to worry about that.

All the victim blaming in here. Could the situation have been avoided if the woman just gave her ID? Yes, possibly. But she was well within her rights to refuse. The police officer used excessive force and violated her right. So he is at fault, not the citizen.
If I walk home all alone and I get mugged/raped/murdered, its not my fault. Could it have been avoided if I had someone with me or walked home earlier? Possibly. But the fault is with the mugger/rapist/murderer

No the officers even said so themselves

Yes there wasn't an arrest taking place and she doesn't have to talk to the cops

Were the cops in the wrong?

Yes! She's pregnant first of all and not even a threat that warrants handcuffs

Were they too violent?

Yes obviously

Did she have the right to resist?

she had the right to walk away and the way the cops reacted was unnecessary and potentially illegal (probably will get suspended or fired)

But and this a controversial but in comparison to everyone else I don't think the way she reacted helped the situation even though she was in the right. And when it comes to that point an officer basically convicting you of a false crime I do believe you should comply and then do whatever you have to do to bring attention to the wrongdoing when you're at the police station or in court. I don't think aggravating the police who have a control issue is a good idea and I don't think the battles we fight to wrong the justice system should take place on the streets because the cops will win it's their word against ours and when people fight back usually it goes in their favor

I hope that clears up any misunderstandings

This was horrifying. I hope that the woman and her child are okay, and I hope that policeman is fired. There was absolutely no reason to arrest her, let alone use force to push a pregnant woman down to the ground.

What gets me most is the officer who asked HIM if he was okay before asking the woman who was arrested. Just

Nothing in this was arrest worthy. A ticket for driving the wrong way at the most.

At the same time, she could've done a lot to help herself in this situation. I don't know if this is racism but the cop definitely wasn't here for the defiance. He's in the wrong for abusing his power.

That cop had the opportunity to prove her assumption wrong and treat her with the same respect as that white woman. But NOPE. They manhandled her for no reason and only justified her fear in the police because of institutionalized racism. And people wonder why blacks don't trust cops.
