Apple has revealed that its new mobile software will bring side-by-side app multitasking to its tablets. The feature will let you display two live apps at once, Windows 8-style.
There's a picture-in-picture mode that will let you watch a video without disrupting what you're doing, too. This upgraded multitasking will only be available for the iPad Air, iPad mini 2 and other relatively recent Apple slates

Multi windows, a key Android feature that has been on Samsung devices for over 3 years now, and later got copied by LG, does the same, but unlike on Apple devices it's not a tablet exclusivity and allows you to view more than 2 apps at the same time.

Multiple windows relates directly to multitasking, which is why they even said that this new release has to do with multitasking. Also, Samsung didn't make this... Your thread is still nothing but a reach.

Samsung was the first to introduce multi windows features on a mobile platform, it is what it is. Windows Phone doesn't have it yet, it's on its way, and even android only has it in beta form in Android M.

Heck if it was such a trivial thing why did it take Apple so long to introduce it on their devices ? And why is it an IPad exclusivity, and therefor won't be on iphones ?

To get a bit real here the iPhone does multitasking but not with apps very well. In other words the iOS can preempt a task through software events or hardware interrupts to manage the operation system but when it comes to apps you are limited as to what you can do once you background an app.

Once the app is backgrounded it is no longer running or taking any CPU cycles in most cases. Apple does not what you to run in background and if you are going to you have to have a damn go reason for it or they will deny your app because whole purpose is to save battery by stopping the app.

Anyways best practice with an iPhone is to let the apps stay backgrounded once open all they do is use memory not CPU and this is a good thing. It will not impact performance at all, in fact opening and closing them all the time is going to be more demanding on the battery. iOS will manage the memory for you and automatically close the apps you are not using. The only reason to kill an app is if it freezes on you.

Funny how the people that scream that Apple is releasing a feature on iOS similar to an Android skin (in this case TouchWiz) are the people that also forget that Apple was the first to release a phone with capacitive touch and were the first to make modern-day smartphones. But, Apple is the one that is uninnovative?

Also, iPhones have had home buttons since the first iPhone, square designs aren't anything to brag about, neither are metal phones, and Apple had fingerprint scanner patents before Samsung or any other Android vendor.
