We don't live in a society that glorifies obesity as ideal. So, all you people screaming "skinny bashing" are akin to those who like to shout "reverse racisme" and "reverse sexism" blah, blah, blah, when common sense should tell you that's not how our society works. Thin people do not experience hiring and
job discrimination the way obese/overweight people do. Thin people do not struggle for media represenation, the way obese/overweight people do, nor are thin people systemically blamed for everything from
rising health care costs to
global warming. It just doesn't really happen. So no, banning this YSL ad because the model was deemed too thin is not the same as fat-a-phobia. There's a happy medium in between obesity and being underweight, and that YSL ad aint it. I wouldn't be too concerned about the model, tho. She got her check and some added publicity because of the controversy. If she's passed over by future clients in favor of models with higher BMI's, then "Oh, well." That's the nature of the game she plays, but apparently, the UK aint having it.
