I've been saying all along that TIHWD could've been the WUIV of the PRISM era but radio ruined everything and also zero live performances.
Well you've been correct since the beginning. It was seriously done wrong. If TIHWD had the same amount of airplay as Birthday, it would have gone Top 10, no doubt.
But I'm guessing there's a reason why radio didn't play it.
There sure was.

but after they played Birthday and nothing happened, radios were hesitant to play another Katy single + there was some radio backlash for not making Walking on Air a single or something lame, idk.
I am still mad at Katy for releasing Birthday and TIHWD over Legendary Lovers & CYB, tho.
CYB was (thankfully) never an option, but LL was robbed.
Then again, LL would have suffered the same fate as TIHWD. Yet I bet nobody would be claiming "it's a horrible song!" had it peaked outside the Top 20.
