It was about brining attention to TIDAL through an exclusive, which it did, since the app shot into the Top 30 of the App Store and brought in new subscribers. Whether or not they stay with the service is entirely different.

But when I wrote that I was replying to something that was off-topic to begin with. You are right with what you're saying concerning new subscribers. It's a good strategy but it will take a while until they get more popular. I mean people these days are just not willing to pay or switch their habits.

It shows how active the user base is that off 900k subscribers they were able to pull 500k views on a video in 10 days, on a service ppl signed up for to stream music. Mathematically that's amazing, versus Youtube which has a userbase thats astronomically high.
