Hope they're okay and recover quickly, sad that it's teenagers and even worse that the ride had encountered problems several times before. I'll keep them in my prayers.
I was looking at some pictures and this is a really weird accident. I thought it happened on the brake run or something but it looks like there was a random empty car on the middle of the course? Why would that even be there?
Edit: this is all based on speculation, but apparently the empty car was sent out for a test run and stalled (which happens with this ride occasionally). The car with people in it was sent out while the empty car was doing it's run and was stopped on the first lift hill (like it should, there should never be more than 1 car on the same block section) but was somehow released. Roller coasters have computer systems to prevent this, so I don't know how this could happen.
One of the victims had her leg amputated . That's pretty sad tbh and obviously she'll get a lot of money for it but still...I'd rather have my legs.
Having said that I still don't think rides are dangerous. This is the first major accident I've heard of in years. It is still pretty rare. Just sit in the middle I guess.
