It added alot nnnn
For the most part it proved that Jon snow finally did know something. It was the right call to go get the stray wildlings Cuz you see, any living being north of the wall now can either be alive and on your side or dead and fighting against you. So that entire population was an army waiting to be claimed and Jon should actually have come there sooner, Cuz now the whitewalker army is just that much stronger.
Its finally clear now that dragon glass IS infact.. Valyrian steel.
For the book readers.. The whole fight sequence was actually
melisandres prophecy coming true. This was definitely something right out of the winds of winter
This was the first time we comprehended the real power of The Others. The nights king's power is realand he is coming for the wall. The wall with only 3/19 towers guarded. Now the characters and the audience finally see what the elders meant whn they said "when the white walkers come, they will tide over everyone and everything."
The thenn leader who was such a big deal in the battle last season was killed within seconds.. Any steel shattered as it touched The Other"s weapon.
Not to mention the sheer awesomeness of the sequence. The much needed thrill for this season. And is a huuuuge step forward in Jon and the wall's storyline.
