A man fatally shot in Baltimore is the city's 40th homicide victim this month, a record month for slayings. It was also the 100th shooting this month.

Year over year May 2014 - 3,801 arrests, 2015 - 1,177 arrests.

I was sick when I saw this the other day.

I agree, I think they are actually more afraid of getting shot.

How many cops in Baltimore got shot this year, cos I even find that hard to believe.

The cops response is childish and transparent. When they are criticised for murdering/brutalising innocents, they as a collective decide to sit on their hands? So when the city goes up in flames they can turn around and say "ha told you, you needed us". It's either all or nothing, and that's wrong and that is distracting from the issue and they know it. So much for "good cops", where are they now?

Well I know a lot of cops so I can tell you as you say there are bad ones but there are far more good ones. Probably 1/2 the people I shoot with are cops.

One thing is for sure they are a brotherhood and stick together. I can't fully understand that bond. I was talking to my friend in Houston just today, about the floods, and we got to talking about Baltimore. He was basically saying it's not that the cops got arrested its how they were thrown under the bus instantly and tried and convicted in the media and had zero support from the Mayor. Add the AG's comments that she will get justice politicized it. So the cops will stick together when they feel like they don't have support from their boss. He essentially said he would be doing the same thing and I know he is a damn good cop.

Call it childish whatever you don't have to wear the uniform and risk your life they do and to insinuate they are in no danger is absurd.

If they crack down someone is going to get shot at some point, be it a cop or a citizen, then all hell is going to break loose again.

It's not a good cop vs bad cop situation. it's the system that allows the bad cops (whoever they are and however many there are) to get away with evil.

Lbr. We have seen that Cops stick together before any "media trial", when they are burying/planting evidence and doing all sorts of shady business behind the scenes. It's not entirely reactionary. The department is corrupt in it's roots.

According to the Bureau of Labour statistics; I would have to dig in to the report because I am sure it's including all cops everywhere and if that's the case sure, there are many safe towns where cops can go 20 years and never have to drawn down on someone. Now what does the report say when you only include inner city police? At one time I think tree trimmers were near the top of the list, I know they are very expensive to insure, I'm talking the guys that climb way the hell up in to the trees. One of my maintenance companies does outside work and plowing but we don't to trees, insurance is killer and the fact is eventually someone is going to probably die. Everyone I know in the business has a story about it. I just can't deal with that. I'm a software engineer that inherited that business and grew it but I don't do day to day.

I don't mean crackdown as in they go out and start shaking down everyone on the streets and start forming lines and throwing gas everywhere I mean they start aggressively and properly doing their jobs.

No one really likes the police until they need the police.
