The Invention of Wings is getting a bit better, I thought the author wrote the Secret life of PI so I dismissed her but instead she wrote the Secret Life of Bees...

anyways I found out that slaves in America were not allowed to learn how to read, there was a law against that. Also, the church was actively telling blacks to remain slaves because that's what "God wanted". I'm appalled

But I'm sure the protagonist will free herself soon

I'm reading Ten Thousand Saints by Eleanor Henderson.

I recently finished Very Bad Men by Harry Dolan after much struggle and delay. It's a good book for fans for plot twists and mysterious characters.

An amazing book indeed. Hosseini's new book And The Mountains Echoed depicts the struggle of children.

I am currently reading All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. Epic and intriguing.
