idk about MIA, but Yung Repunzel was not gonna be getting any support from he label considering it was a song about her wanting to be free from the label. If the label had backed 212, Chasing Time, or Ice Princess, then you might have heard Azealia Banks.
But now? i wouldn't hold my breath for her to break through on American radio, cause she clearly has no desire to be a popstar.
Because they don't have hits? Radio only plays hits unless you're listening to a college station or something, and they only take chances on songs that they think will be hits.
I think their music is much more artistic and not really directed at making huge hits or big smashes. Just being creative word smiths, one more political and the other more ferocious. They still make bangers and get played at parties/festivals so who cares?

I wish American radio was more diverse, they literally have about 4 songs on rotation. I'm surprised there isn't a demand for popular radio stations that play all the hits but mix them in with BRAND NEW releases as well as buzzy indie songs and have more of an even balance.

It wasn't a radio smash, but it achieved most of its sales from being in the Pineapple Express trailer. That's actually the only reason it made it to radio.
