Can you be racist towards white people?

I used to think so until I've read a few opinions on the topic. A bit conflicted. ???

If you live in the western world, no.

You can be mean, but you can't oppress white people to the point of racism

Dictionary Definition of Racism that is commonly accepted by 99% of the world: Yes, you can be racist to any person of any race. If a purple skinned person believes he or she is superior to a white person because he or she is not white, that is racism.

Yes. I'm black and I don't go.around being disrespectful to white people for no reason. That just isn't right, and there's tons of white people who are respectful to black people. Hell many of them helped us out during the Civil Rights Movement, and some even marched with us.

Yes, but most "anti-white" terms are rooted in humor, or just sound satirical. I don't know a single white person that would feel offended if someone like Azealia Banks were to drag them for being white.

Institutional racism is not the only form of racism (thus why you need to put another word in front of it) Also, whites aren't the majority in every country.

Honestly, I'm pretty much convinced that everyone who says racism against whites is a myth is a racist him/herself. A lot of their arguments more or less amount to "White people are evil and all of them are racists/support institutional racism/any stereotyping/judgmental comments we say = true." I just don't have the patience to not say what I think of these ignorant people anymore.

Obviously there are different kinds of racism, depending on the context.
Ideological racism, anyone can be a victim of (i.e saying white people can't dance)
Systematic racism, anyone can be a victim of in theory but in reality, whites do no suffer systematic racism in the western world (i.e the judicial bais against African Americans, stop and frisk on Latinos and blacks etc)

But clearly the latter and the former are so disparate in severity that it would be silly to conflate the 2. Which is why people tend to only acknowledge the systematic racism in these debates.
