Its not easy to get on american radio. You have to campaign. You have to grind and ****ing sell yourself to the stations and their dj's because unless you're Katy Perry or another radio regular or already heavily hyped star they're not just going to add you just because. And neither Azealia nor M.I.A. seem to desire to go out of their way to fight to be played on Top 40 radio stations, they're the type that if they so happen to make a song that sells itself enough to make it onto radio on its own then so be it. I think 212 and Paper Planes both got radio play by chance because they were just that good to have impacted people enough to where dj's added them.
