Iggy Azalea's 2015 Billboard Award for Best Song has been proven invalid. The eligibility time period for nominations is March 10th, 2014 through March 2015. "Fancy" was released on February 17th, 2014, nearly a month before the eligibility starting. This is unfair to the other nominees in these category, especially to "Anaconda" by Nicki Minaj, who most likely would've won. Billboard did not follow their own guidelines and should have to recalculate these nominations without "Fancy" as a nominee.
They're wrong. The eligibility period refers to the tracking period.
The charts were tracked between March 2014 - March 2015 for the Award.
Release dates didn't matter. BEYONCE was in R&B album despite releasing 2013, All Of Me won Top Radio Song and was released 2013. Release dates have never factored into Billboard Music Awards, a chart based award.
The way that person put blood and sweat into 25k signatures, only to end up being the wrong one once Billboard clarifies.
That's not how it works. Her song SMASHED during the eligibility period. No where in their fine print does it say that an album/single has to be released during that time frame. Didn't Gaga get nominated for Best Dance Album multiple times for The Fame?
