I wouldn't go that far. Celine is a legend but Madonna, MJ, Elvis, Aretha and Barbra Streisand are all firmly above her.
You may not have heard of Nina Simone, but you will know artists influenced by her. A ridiculous amount of modern musicians cite her as an influence. Only the High Priestess of Soul.
I agree, as a Céline fan, her influence is drastically smaller in comparison to her peers.

Céline's version was used in the credits, if I remember correctly. Your "the song was popular before she sang it" argument makes absolutely zero sense.
